I am a photographer, heavily influenced by two diametric styles: 1930's & 40's Documentary FSA, which strove to capture people and places realistically in their environments, and cinema mise-en-scene, where every attention to detail is perfected. However, both styles strive to tell a story within a single frame.
I have won numerous photography and film awards, including awards from Columbia Scholastic Press Association.

Laura Creecy is a self-taught photographer, heavily influenced by two diametric styles: 1930's & 40's Documentary FSA, which strove to capture people and places realistically in their environments, and cinema mise-en-scene, where in fictional environments, every attention to detail is perfected. However, both styles strive to tell a story within a single frame.
"Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created.”- Edward Steichen
I rarely work in the confines of studio, preferring to adventure out into the world searching for objects and faces that inspire and amuse my imagination. Intrigued with contrasting colors, textures, movement, and light, each photograph I create presents ordinary people or objects in a heightened reality. I only use the natural light available to me in each location I shoot in, whether an outdoor sunset or a grungy LA night club. I have worked as a photojournalist and fine art photographer blending both styles as a culmination for my current study: Live Burlesque
As an artist, I have produced work in all forms of visual media, including photography, film, animation, theater, web design, graphic design, pastel, and mixed media. After receiving an MFA in film production from American University, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue film editing and digital color correction. Throughout my career, I have directed art and theater programs, and lectured and taught all ages photography, digital video production, and animation.

December 2008
I am currently working on the feature film Touched as a DIT and Asst. Editor. The film is shooting with the RED camera and I am helping to create a steady workflow from production to post-production.
November 2008
After a long creative retreat, I spent a few days in Washington, DC and got hired on as a RED workflow consultant by a young crew shooting a fiction short called Border Story in Tuscon, AZ. Also, I applied for several photography grants, one which would let me go study in Rome for 11 months. I hear back in April. Finally, I returned to LA after 8 weeks.
October 2008
I left LA at the end of September for a creative retreat in Sun Valley, ID for 4 weeks where I sorted out my photography collection, layed out some proofs for a photography book, and enjoyed some clean air and lots of hiking.
September 2008
Wrapped up as an asst./online editor for the film The Nail: The Story of Joey Nardone. Chaos! Went to Colorado Springs and Santa Fe for some personal time and came back to LA faced with some hard personal decisions.
